HIFU

High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) has been found to be a promising treatment that could replace face lifts, especially in younger people who don’t want the risks and recovery time associated with surgery. It is a relatively new cosmetic treatment for skin tightening that is non-invasive, non-surgical and painless replacement for face lifts. It uses high-intensity focused ultrasound rays to encourage the production of collagen which results in firmer skin.

What is HIFU treatment?

HIFU improves the structure of the deeper skin layers i.e. dermal layer and beneath.

HIFU Treatment

HIFU uses focused ultrasound energy to target the layers of skin just below the surface to stimulate collagen and elastin production in order to create a more youthful appearance without damaging the surface skin. The ultrasound energy leads to the tissue to heat up rapidly.

Once the cells in the targeted area reach a certain temperature, they experience cellular damage which actually stimulates the cells to produce more collagen.

The upsurge in collagen results in tight, firm skin with fewer wrinkles. As the high-frequency ultrasound beams focuses on a specific tissue site below the skin’s surface, the upper layers of the skin and adjacent tissues are not damaged. Henceforth, you get naturally plump, supple and glowing skin. To maintain the results of HIFU, repeated procedures are needed.

DURATION OF THE HIFU TREATMENT

HIFU treatment for the face and neck requires one hour for complete procedure. The results may take up to 90 days. The treatment effect may last from 1-1.5 years.

Who is ideal candidate and who is not?
⦁ HIFU works best on people of age 30 and above with mild-to-moderate skin laxity.
⦁ HIFU is indicated for sagging cheeks, facial oval, and jowl sagging, treating wrinkles, and loosening fat within the neck area.
⦁ People with photo-damaged skin or a high degree of loose skin may need several treatments before seeing results.
⦁ HIFU is not meant for older people or people with excessive photo-aging, severe skin laxity, very saggy skin on the neck.
⦁ HIFU isn’t recommended for people with open skin lesions at the target area, infection, cystic acne, and metallic implants in the treatment area.

Benefits of high-intensity focused ultrasound

HIFU has many aesthetic benefits, including:
⦁ wrinkle reduction
⦁ tightening sagging skin on the neck
⦁ lifting the cheeks, eyebrows, and eyelids
⦁ enhancing jawline definition
⦁ tightening of the décolletage
⦁ smoothing the skin

HIFU treatment Safety

⦁ HIFU is considered very safe as it is performed by a trained and qualified professional at our clinic.
⦁ You might feel heat and tingling while undergoing the procedure which can be eluded with pain medicine.
⦁ You can immediately resume your normal activities, as there are no special post-treatment precautions to be followed.
⦁ Slight redness or swelling occurs which subsides quickly. A light tingling sensation may persist at the treated areas for a few weeks.
⦁ Temporary numbness or bruising may occur which subsides after a few days.

Advantages of HIFU over a surgical face lift

⦁ No incision is required, no scarring occurs
⦁ No recovery time
⦁ Far less expensive than a face lift
⦁ Quick, painless, and non-invasive
